Campaign for a First Nations Education System

Australia is one of the only western colonised countries in the world that does not have an independent option for First Nations children to learn in their own language and through their own culture. The United Nations declares that First Nations people have the right to self-designed education. Our government denies them this human right. In My Blood It Runs, Children’s Ground and the National Indigenous Education Coalition (NIYEC) are working together to garner support for a First Nations-led education system.
Our job as students was to design a hypothetical campaign that would build political and/ or public support for a First Nations education system by providing clarity as to what it could look like and/or why it matters. My intention was to garner public and political support for this cause through a guerrilla poster campaign. My campaign is designed to be bright, colourful, appealing and yet in your face with quotes and questions that provoke reflection and unlearning in the viewer.
